Would have given 5 stars if the prices we're a little better. Lunch prices are great! Sushi and habachi boxes are delicious for lunch. You do get a lot of food for the price! I usually go for lunch and get portions for later. My go to for Japanese!

It was our first time here today and decided to try this place. Had the hibachi combo with Filet Mignon and shrimp and it was delicious! I was shocked the prices were so cheap. I very much enjoyed my experience here!

Here on a Friday summer night around 8:45pm. Lots of available seats. Ordered tempura appetizer and sushi main course. The sushi came first and was dropped in front of me on table. Three minutes later the appetizer was delivered. Tempura yam was thickly sliced but very tasty. Background music is Auld Lang Sei and it is July. Don't get it. Broccoli is a big ball and part of it is burnt. Skip the tempura appetizer or be disappointed. Now it is John Denver music sung by someone else. Both cases not too great. Sushi is very pedestrian. There is a Publix next door. Should have bought their ham salad for take out. Much better value for money.n

The only real complaint I have was that it was warm and stuffy tonight. Now that we have that out of the way...the food is excellent. Paul is an entertaining hibachi chef and cooked our food to perfection. The rock shrimp is the go to appetizer and we will double order it with some white rice for lunch. It is ridiculous...

As an avid sushi connoisseur, I take Japanese restaurants very seriously. Sumo has a friendly staff, and delicious cuisine. The fish is fresh, and the rice supple. However, the soups here are the underdog on the menu. The tofu vegetable soup has a subtle crunch of greens, soft bites of tofu, and amazing quantities of shiitake mushrooms. It is the perfect light lunch that will leave you satisfied with not only the quality, but the fact that there won't be a dent left in your wallet after your meal. Sumo is definitely the best Japanese food in Brevard with reasonable prices. Stop by, and expect authentic Japanese cuisine.

When another local restaurant was a madhouse and we changed our mind due to the long wait, I turned to Yelp to find a nearby, highly-rated restaurant, and we were lucky to find Sumo. VERY fresh seafood and fast service! My Sumo roll was terrific as was hubby's Sumo sushi special for one. Highly recommend!

Just moved into town and I've loved many places. I'm sushi obsessed so I can be pretty critical. I got the valentine, sumo and naruto. All were excellent! I would definitely recommend this place but I took one star off for how expensive it is and another for their lack of creative raw roll variety. Most rolls were fries or had a cooked piece in it( smoked tuna, shrimp tempura...) Try this out, but not on a budget!

We just moved here from NY My husband and myself went there for the first time to have dinner. The service was excellent the food was wonderful the hibachi was cooked right in front of us and everything was fresh I would definitely go back again. The service was wonderful. The waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy but friendly. Would definitely recommend this place for anybody to go for dinner.

Great sushi! I always get the play boy roll - the tempura mix they use tastes amazing And the tuna is always fresh. I have yet to try the hibachi yet, but for a small place they are always packed.

We love sushi, so with a good number of positive reviews we could not help but stop by. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. Their ginger dressing is the smoothest ever. The specialty rolls were awesome and standard fare delightful! Good prices...whether you are local or visiting... Three stooges and the playboy.....awesome!

Tried Sumo on a Saturday night because we had a Groupon. it's a small restaurant in a strip mall with Publix and Bealls anchor stores. The restaurant was about half full, with most of the guests sitting at the hibachi tables for the shows. The hostess/server asked whether we were there for hibachi or sushi, and when we selected the latter, were led to a booth close enough to see the show if we wanted to do so. I ordered the tequila roll and spicy salmon roll, and my husband ordered the salmon skin roll and the beef noodle dish. We shared the edamame appetizer. The spicy salmon and salmon skin rolls were typical of every sushi restaurant: small but flavorful. The tequila roll was made of tempura shrimp and avocado, topped with tuna, tomato, fresh jalapeño slice and black roe. It was large and very tasty - my only complaint would be that they didn't remove the jalapeño seeds, so it was a lot hotter than I was expecting! My husband was expecting the noodle dish to be a soup, but it was a generous plateful of large (worm-size :)) noodles with beef and vegetables. The edamame started off steamy but cooled off quickly, a sign of being microwaved, I think. The prices were reasonable, the flavors were good, the hibachi chefs were entertaining but low-key, and the portion size was good. The service was a it slow (my husband received both of his dishes before I received one, and it took a while to get our check) but our water glasses were constantly refilled. I'd come back.

Very impressed!!! Found this place by referral and now we have a new Japanese Steak & Sushi favorite! The portions were excellent, fresh and flavorful. Sushi was excellent, melted in our mouths and the hibachi meals were wonderful! Our server was very attentive and we can't wait to go back.

Came for hibachi. Everything very tasty and fresh. My daughter had sushi also. She said it was delicious. My husband and I had the special seafood and steak for 2. Lobster was a little over cooked but scallops were delicious. Also had shrimp and filet mignon. Also very tasty. Portions were large and we actually took home enough for dinner for my husband and I for the following night! Will go back when in the area again.

First time at this restaurant and was delightfully impressed. We had the box lunch, which was a big meal. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and my wife the tempura. We went in here to try it out because we bought a groupon. We actually decided to sit at the sushi bar, which norm we don't do. The sushi was wonderful we had all different rolls, one with cilantro I had never had before that was great, along with sashimi. We asked them to tempura some vegetables for us and bring us a special sauce they had and that was excellent. Then to top it off the sushi chef sent us an additional dish to try on the house, which was great. Don't let it being in a strip mall or not extremely busy fool you, you def will be impressed with the sushi here.

Had a wonderful pescatarian dinner yesterday... The food was good. I had the mushroom soup and sushi rolls, with green tea ice cream mochi foe dessert. The decor inside is very well done. This could be also be a great place for a business lunch.

We are staying at a hotel on the beach so we ordered take out a few night's ago. I can only rate on the food. Side salad and seaweed salad were very good. My Las Vegas roll was very good. The price was fair for the amount and quality. My partner ordered a T & T roll. Very fresh tuna and veggies. We were very pleased w/ our meal. Sorry I can't comment on the actual location and service. Bon Appetite!

This place is right over the Eau Gallie Causeway, in the same plaza as Publix. If I were down in the area more, I'd probably eat here more often. //Decor\\ Dim lighting, hibachi tables up front with a partition that separates them from the few regular tables in the back facing the sushi bar and booths along the side. Quite a few people must come here for the hibachi, because when we walked in the waitress presumed we were here for the hibachi. We ordered a la carte, but from the sounds and big flames behind us the hibachi sounded like a fun experience. //Food\\ Between five of us, we got mostly raw rolls and split a tempura sampler appetizer, which was 3 pieces of shrimp and maybe 3-4 pieces of vegetables (broccoli, zucchini, sweet potato). The sampler was just enough for us, but if you have a bigger party, I'd recommend ordering more than one. The cut rolls are pretty thick in size compared to most places. I noticed a lot of the signature rolls used soy paper, which I'm normally not a fan of, but there was a good amount of filling in each roll that I didn't mind the soy paper. If you're a fan of spicy tuna rolls and want something more substantial, the Three Stooges Roll is spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, and spicy salmon all in one big roll. The price is actually pretty good. Some places charge $13+ for some of the $11 rolls at this place. If you come during lunch time and order the sushi bar specials, it's even cheaper. //Service\\ They weren't very busy when we arrived, and our waitresses were pretty on point with the drink refills. Not sure how it would be when they get really busy, but overall service was pretty nice.

Just ate here for the first time since the new ownership. For the first impression, Sumo is a big improvement over the previous place. We ordered four rolls and a shrimp tempura dinner. The presentation was really nice compared to other beachside sushi places. The tuna was the freshest tuna I have ever had in melbourne. It was the most beautiful red color! We had the three stooges roll and sumo roll which both have the Chef's special sauce. That sauce is delicious! The sauce is really unlike any other I have had. Everything we had was very fresh. The tempura was light and crunchy and not greasy at all. Sushi can be mediocre in melbourne but this might be my new place to go! Definitely going to be back to give it another try!

Very good sushi. Value for the money was there. I ordered the Maki combo which came with the 3 rolls I would order anyway. Hubby had scallop habachi which looked good and he said was, also they didn't skimp on the scallops. As an added bonus we used a Groupon and got $15. Off our bill. It was quiet when we went which was a Sunday night. Nothing spectacular about the decor but I don't judge on that. The place was clean and that is important. Also the servers were highly attentive. We will be back even without the Groupon.

I have had Sushi at the following Space Coast restaurats: Thai Thai, Nippon Thai, Haru, Makotos, Siam Orchid, Land & Sea Thai Fusion, Red Ginger and Toyo. Summo in my opinion has the best Sushi in the Space Coast (Toyo and Nippon Thai round out my top 3). The Out of Control Roll and Escolar (White Tuna) Sashimi are menu standouts. As one might expect from a true Japanese restaurant, their Sushi menu is more extensive than the Thai restaurants that add Sushi as a sideline. The freshness, quality, and potion size on their Sashimi are top notch. If not for Yelp I would not expect superb Sushi from a nondescript (from the outside) restaurant a few doors down from Publix. The many 5 star reviews on Yelp are spot on. Here is one more, Five well earned stars for Brevard's best Sushi.

This is the best sushi and hibachi on the island at great prices with excellent service. This is my go-to place now. You won't be disappointed!
